- Marketing & Media Specialist

ABOUT THE ROLE The Marketing & Media Specialist will assist the Outreach Team in developing OTTA United’s outreach and marketing campaigns, specifically in developing promotional material and digital assets. The ideal candidate is familiar with social media and corresponding trends; provides an exciting and creative approach to promoting OTTA United’s work; and has relevant experience in media and content creation (e.g. video, photography, digital media, etc.) REQUIREMENTS Position Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Outreach and Graphic Designer & Marketing Strategist to curate marketing and outreach campaigns. Create visual content for various social media platforms, including, but not limited to, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Modality of content may vary across multiple disciplines (e.g. photo-editing, videography, video editing, audio editing, graphic design, etc.) Research ongoing trends in social media (e.g. trending content, keywords, hashtags, etc.) to develop relevant content. Assist in creating and managing content for the website. Attend staff meetings. Additional duties as assigned. Experience & Education: Current high school or undergraduate students preferred. Born and raised in Orange County, Benjamin Wang (he/him/his) is a proud Taiwanese-American and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Ben studies Political Science and Education Studies at the University of California, San Diego. A champion for education equity, Ben is a Supplemental Instruction Leader for the UC San Diego Academic Achievement Hub. In addition, Ben served as Recruitment Manager for STEMup4Youth, a nonprofit organization serving over 50000 students dedicated to bringing interactive science activities to underserved communities. Ben joined Our Time To Act in August of 2022 as a Voter Engagement Researcher, and is committed to increasing voter engagement for historically disenfranchised groups as well as speaking out for youth and student affairs. Ben is currently involved in an Our Time To Act initiative to study voter disengagement and apathy. Outside of his work, Ben is a distinguished violinist and pianist, a frequent gym-goer, an avid gamer, and a nationally recognized Naval JROTC cadet officer. Holly (she/they) is a dedicated Vietnamese-American educator, project manager, and organizer born and raised in Eastside San Jose. Currently, Holly is Chief of Staff at Sustainable & Just Future, expanding solution-based environmental curriculum around the United States. Their work focuses on intersectional environmental justice, youth empowerment, and international climate policy. Their unique background in the legal industry, non-profit sector, creative storytelling, and climate education have strengthened their dedication to serving communities disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis. Rachel Choy (she/her) is working towards a career in brand marketing. She joined Our Time To Act in April 2021 as the Graphic Designer and became the Assistant Director of Communications in July 2022. Throughout her time at Our Time To Act, she has seen the implications of and needs for visual communications to create impactful changes. Some of her work includes leading social media and website content projects, collaborating with departments for marketing campaigns, and rebranding the organization. Outside of Our Time To Act, Rachel is studying for a major in Marketing and a double minor in Graphic Design and Retail Studies at Santa Clara University (SCU). Rachel is also Co-Chair of the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Union at SCU. Here, she fosters community by providing spaces, resources, and events for API students. - Administrative Interns (Quarter 3, Jul-Sep)
< Back to Open Positions Administrative Interns (Quarter 3, Jul-Sep) Intern (Volunteer) San Diego and/or Remote APPLY Applications are due on June 16th. ABOUT THE ROLE The main role of the Administrative Intern is to learn and improve how work is completed efficiently and effectively at OTTA United. Administrative Interns are encouraged to adopt both a system-wide and individual approach to problem-solving and are assigned to a specific Director to support their work. We seek applicants who are passionate, solutions-oriented, and excited to dive into specific areas of work at OTTA United. TERM & PROCESS Q3 Administrative Interns are accepted for work between July 1st and September 30th. Administrative Interns may apply for multiple repeating terms. In July, Administrative Interns are introduced to OTTA United, staff members, and their fellow intern cohort. Interns are assigned to shadow and assist a specific Director depending on need and intern preference. By the end of July, interns will begin to formulate an Individual Impact Project (IIP) that serves as a guide for applied learning throughout the course of the term. At the beginning of August, interns will pitch their IIPs and begin work. They will meet weekly with their assigned Director and occasionally with the entire intern cohort. Along the way, interns will assist Directors with administrative tasks that provide experience and insight into the inner workings of a nonprofit. This will continue until mid-September when IIPs come to a close. Interns will give concluding presentations on their work and reflect on what they learned. Interns may also apply for an extension to continue their IIPs into the next term. INDIVIDUAL IMPACT PROJECT (IIP) GUIDELINES IIPs aim to improve the management of the nonprofit in order to maximize operational efficiency, program efficacy (impact), team cohesion, or the general advancement of OTTA United's mission. Interns are encouraged to design IIPs to improve the specific skills that best support their personal or professional development. One component of IIPs is a 1:1 conversation with a relevant subject field expert, which offers valuable growth opportunities for interns. Interns are encouraged to be creative and ambitious with their IIPs! OTTA United will support you in your quest for knowledge and growth. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE All youth (15-24) are encouraged to apply, regardless of education and experience level. WORK MODALITY & LOCATION The work modality of this role is either hybrid or remote. Work is welcome in person at OTTA United’s office is located in San Diego, California (3252 Holiday Court Ste 103, San Diego, CA 92037), but it is not required. PAY & BENEFITS This position is on a volunteer basis. There is no compensation for this position at this time. Oliver has lived in Boston, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles but considers the Bay Area home. He is a Stanford and Harvard trained clinical psychologist and has returned to Stanford University to serve as Operations Director at Counseling and Psychological Services, teach courses in Asian American Studies, supervise the next generation of psychologists, and provide outreach workshops and trainings. Hadil Salih (she/her) is a senior at San Diego State University studying Comparative International Studies with a double minor in interdisciplinary studies and Arabic and Islamic Studies. Born in Germany, raised in Sudan for five years of her life, and migrating to the United States contributed to Hadil’s passion to learn more about foreign relations as well as legal diplomatic procedures. This led her to study abroad via the federally funded and operated Critical Language Scholarship, intern for the Superior Court of San Diego, become the External President of the national club Empowering Women in Law, and branch into other forms of public service. Hadil was also a resident advisor for two years, and she was trained to help first-year college students through many hardships. This includes economic instability, mental health problems, and Title IX cases. Currently, Hadil is Our Time To Act’s executive assistant. She manages the schedule for the Executive Director, the Office of the Executive Director, and Senior Management. She also fulfills various administrative tasks and has been aiding in drafting the Standard Operating Procedures. He love biology, the history of the atomic bomb, the Los Angeles Rams, and is very excited to learn more about legal advocacy. Aside from being a student, Pashe is involved in various youth and community-oriented organizations in the belief that youth own the future and hold the power to shape it, (?) presiding as the co-lead of Team Enough, co-chair of SDUSD’s Environmental Literacy Task Force, holding seat at the La Jolla Playhouse Teen Council, and of course Our Time To Act in the engagement team.
